Writer’s Retreat

Picture it: a day to focus on writing in a beautiful restored grist mill nestled between tall autumn trees and a lovely small stream. You can choose sessions that educate—learn about publishing options, explore submittable markets, get tips on editing—or simply opt for a quiet day of intentional writing led by skilled prompt guides.

Keynote speaker Derrick Weston will address the  value of connecting creativity across multiple areas of one’s life. Derrick, who co-authored THE JUST KITCHEN: Invitations to Sustainability, Cooking, Connection and Celebration, is a documentary filmmaker, producer, and cohost of The Food and Faith Podcast—and a firm believer in using one’s voice and the media to inspire and enact social change.

The Mill is located at 2029 Monkton Road, Monkton MD 21111. DELIGHT IN WRITING runs from 9 until 3 pm. Morning coffee, snacks and lunch are provided.

Outdoor gravel paths lead to each level of the Mill but may require a strong assistant to help push. Accessible bathrooms are on each level.
